    Student Credit Card Scheme of Government of West Bengal launched to provide study loan at nominal interest – Application developed by NIC, WB

    Students Credit Card

    The government of West Bengal has introduced the Student Credit Card Scheme for the
    students of West Bengal to enable them to pursue education without having any financial
    constraints. This scheme would support the students to pursue secondary, higher secondary,
    madrasah, undergraduate, postgraduate studies and professional degrees including other
    equivalent courses in any School, Madrasah, College, University and other affiliated institutes
    within and outside India.
    The features of the scheme entail that a student from West Bengal can obtain a maximum loan
    of Rs. 10 lakhs @4% per annum simple interest from the State Cooperative Bank and its
    affiliated Central Cooperative Banks and District Central Cooperative Banks and Public/ Private
    Sector Banks. An interest concession of 1% would be provided to the borrower if the interest is
    serviced during the study period. The upper age limit for the interested students is 40(forty)
    years while applying for the loan. The repayment period shall be fifteen (15) years for any loan
    availed under this Credit Card including the Moratorium/repayment holiday.
    West Bengal Chief Minister launched the WB students Credit card Scheme, developed by NIC,
    West Bengal on 30th June 2021.

    The CM launched the scheme from the State Secretariat at Nabanna on virtual Mode. The State Govt
    and District officials were present in the Virtual Mode.
    WB Students studying in Class 10 and above and those living in this state for more than 10 years will get
    benefitted from this scheme.

    Process- A Student registers online at the portal and then applies online at the portal itself with the
    necessary particulars.
    After submission, the student’s information is assessed by the Head of Institution of the respective
    Institution selected where the admission has been taken already.
    After scrutinizing the particulars by the Institution, the application warrants the online formal checking
